Frontier Oil Corp (FTO) -- Company Highlight and Chart

By Steve Cook
All American Investor

Frontier Oil Corp (FTO) is an independent energy engaged in crude oil refining and wholesale marketing of refined petroleum products. The company has grown profits and dividends in excess of 30% annually over the past five years though its return on equity has declined dramatically from 40%+ to the 10-11% range. While profits fell significantly in 2008 and 2009, earnings are recovering in 2010 and should continue to grow as a result of:

(1) an aggressive capital expenditure program that has dramatically increased both the capacity and performance of its refining facilities,

(2) its ability to process heavier, less expensive types of crude oil while still producing higher value added refined products,

(3) wider margins resulting from stabilizing demand and lower raw material, freight and other costs,

FTO is rated B+ by Value Line, has a 28% debt to equity ratio and its stock yields 1.4%.

Yes We Can Include Energy

Investor should be paying attention to these words. There will be some excellent investment opportunities as a result of these words in the months and years ahead.

President Obama made it clear in his Inaugural address that energy will play a central role in the “remaking of America”. In his speech, the President cited both energy and the environment as symptoms of the crisis facing America.
The state of the economy calls for action, bold and swift, and we will act — not only to create new jobs, but to lay a new foundation for growth. We will build the roads and bridges, the electric grids and digital lines that feed our commerce and bind us together. We will restore science to its rightful place, and wield technology’s wonders to raise health care’s quality and lower its cost. We will harness the sun and the winds and the soil to fuel our cars and run our factories.
“With old friends and former foes, we will work tirelessly to lessen the nuclear threat, and roll back the specter of a warming planet.” He even nodded to America’s higher per-capita use of energy and natural resources: “[N]or can we consume the world’s resources without regard to effect. For the world has changed, and we must change with it.”

Huge natural gas reserves discovered in Israel

A historic natural gas reservoir found offshore from Haifa is poised to meet Israel's natural gas demand for about 15 years.

The natural gas field, known as Tamar, was made by Delek Group and US oil operator Noble Energy Inc.
"If the Tamar site opposite the Haifa coast succeeds in producing the significant quantities of natural gas predicted, we are talking about a revolution which will have an impact on the Israeli economy for the coming generations," said Dan Halman, CEO of Halman-Aldubi Group. "The vast reservoir is poised to bring down electricity prices, reduce the country's dependence on gas from foreign countries, in particular from Egypt, and thereby turn Israel from a gas importer into a gas exporter."
