Friedlander, 62, worked at Citigroup, Inc (NYSE: C) and its predecessors for the last 34 years publishing weekly analysts of the U.S. municipal bond market. Friedlander joined the joint-venture between Citigroup, Inc (NYSE: C) and Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) in 2009, which is now the world’s largest brokerage having a total of more than $1.6 trillion in assets.
Friendlander was one among 200 employees which were let go, most of which came from product support areas, according to Business Week, citing anonymous sources.
He had previously provided market and portfolio ideas to wealthy investors and instutitional clients and was named to the Institutional Investor’s “All-American Research Team” for 14 years, according to his biography. Friedlander was also a member of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association’s municipal division executive committee for almost 30 yearse. Friedlander received the association’s Chairman’s Contribution Award, for service to the industry in 1997.
The analyst graduated from the New York State University at Stony Brook with a B.S. in mathematics and earned an MBA from Pace University in New York.
