This Week’s Data


The July Dallas Fed manufacturing index came in at -13.2 versus expectations of +2.5 and June’s reading of +5.8.

June personal income was reported up 0.5% versus expectations of up 0.4%; personal spending was flat versus estimates of up 0.1%; the personal consumption expenditures index was up 0.1% in line; core PCE was up 0.2% versus forecasts of up 0.1%.

Personal Income and Outlays, July 2010

Personal income increased $30.0 billion, or 0.2 percent, and disposable personal income (DPI) increased $17.6 billion, or 0.2 percent, in July, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Personal consumption expenditures (PCE) increased $44.1 billion, or 0.4 percent. In June, personal income decreased $2.7 billion, or less than 0.1 percent, DPI decreased $0.2 billion, or less than 0.1 percent, and PCE decreased $4.0 billion, or less than 0.1 percent, based on revised estimates.

Real disposable income decreased 0.1 percent in July, in contrast to an increase of 0.1 percent in June. Real PCE increased 0.2 percent, compared with an increase of 0.1 percent.

Personal Income and Outlays, May 2010


Personal income increased $53.7 billion, or 0.4 percent, and disposable personal income (DPI) increased $49.0 billion, or 0.4 percent, in May, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Personal consumption expenditures (PCE) increased $24.4 billion, or 0.2 percent. In April, personal
income increased $59.4 billion, or 0.5 percent, DPI increased $63.7 billion, or 0.6 percent, and PCE increased $1.4 billion, or less than 0.1 percent, based on revised estimates.

Real disposable income increased 0.5 percent in May, compared with an increase of 0.6 percent in April. Real PCE increased 0.3 percent, in contrast to a decrease of less than 0.1 percent.
