Gmail Tap -- Morse Code for Android and IOS

The QWERTY keyboard was invented in 1874 and yet it is still used today, largely unchanged. Google introduces a new input method designed for the future: Gmail Tap for Android and iOS.

With Gmail Tap on your phone, you'll be able to:

  • Tap without looking at your screen
  • Replace 26 keys with 2
  • Double your productivity by typing two emails at once

@AllAmerInvest Global Recession, Retirement Havens, Google Down Ten Percent, Malcolm X

Shilling says new global recession is here

And here’s the really bad news: He thinks Europe will experience a recession as deep as ours was from 2007-2009 — enough to tip the U.S.’s relatively better economy into recession, too, during the first quarter of 2012.

Google to Acquire Motorola Mobility Supercharging Android

All American Investor

Since its launch in November 2007, Android has not only dramatically increased consumer choice but also improved the entire mobile experience for users.

Today, more than 150 million Android devices have been activated worldwide—with over 550,000 devices now lit up every day—through a network of about 39 manufacturers and 231 carriers in 123 countries. Given Android’s phenomenal success, we are always looking for new ways to supercharge the Android ecosystem. That is why I am so excited today to announce that we have agreed to acquire Motorola.

Google’s New Droid X and the Winner Is?

Good versus evil?

BS Top - Kneale Android

Google’s new Droid X won’t be released for two weeks, but Dennis Kneale, who snagged a preview, reports that more than just a better smartphone, it’s the key to ending Apple’s dominance.
Yet Apple’s legions of devotees should brace their hipster selves for an inevitable fall from grace. In addition to the iPhone 4, I’ve also been playing with Verizon and Motorola’s new Droid X, which won’t be released until July 15, and I have a bold prediction: One year from now, the iPhone will lose its perch as the world’s most important mobile platform, toppled by Android, the “open,” all-comers-welcome design from Apple’s avowed enemy, Google.

Google Downside Reversal? (Chart)

On Friday morning, I wrote Google Upside Blow Off.  It appeared to me that Google was blowing off to the upside and that a short squeeze was taking place. Friday's close was also suspicious.

Action today could be signaling  a downside reversal in Google. So far the low is in the critical 380 area. If 380 is breached it would signal additional downside in Google.

Short term investors should be extremely careful. Longer term investors need to be watching closely for a change in trend.

Google Upside Blow Off?(Chart)

Investors in Google need to be careful. This chart looks like an upside blow off. It also appears that shorts are heading for the hills. Short covering is actually helping propel the market higher.

The spike up and trade above the red line looks similar to the pattern occurred in February. Any downside reversal in the near term is likely to be negative. At the minimum I would expect to see 380 retested.

Google Ventures Fund set to Invest $100 Million

The newly formed Google Venture Capital Fund is set to invest $100 million this year. The fund is seeking investment opportunities to maximize returns rather than looking for investments that strictly fit with Google's strategic vision. This should be music to the ears of entrepreneurs.

Rich Miner said,
that Google Ventures will look at a wide variety of companies to invest in, including consumer Internet products, information technology, health care and biotech, among other areas.
The fund will focus primarily on companies seeking seed funding and early stage funding, and Google Ventures will have the ability to make investments ranging from tens of thousands to "several tens of millions" of dollars.

Early stage, across the board, this is really good news.

Here is the link to the Google Ventures page.

Google announces job cuts

Job cuts are becoming common and now Google is announcing job cuts. Google is cutting about 100 recruiting jobs. This does not bode well as it indicates the rate of hiring is likely to diminish or stop.

The following appeared on the official Google Blog.
Given the state of the economy, we recognized that we needed fewer people focused on hiring.

Our first step to address this was to wind down almost all our contracts with external contractors and vendors providing recruiting services for Google. However, after much consideration, we have with great regret decided that we need to go further and reduce the overall size of our recruiting organization by approximately 100 positions.

We know this change will be very difficult for the people concerned, and we hope that many of them will be able to find new roles at Google. They helped build this company, new hire by new hire, and we are enormously grateful for everything they have done.
